Last Week at AO: Two Cities, Three Campuses
By Alpha Omega Safety Solutions
Week of September 11, 2026
Two cities.
Three campuses.
One week.
A quick look at what the AO Safe team was up to last week — out with municipal crews, and on campus with the next group of utility workers.
Here’s where we landed.

CITIES
Out with two Michigan cities
We spent the week with our municipal partners. At the City of Portland we ran Traffic Control / Flagger training and a leadership tabletop exercise with their management team — two very different sides of keeping their workforce safe, in the same visit. We also spent a crew observation day with the City of Chelsea, out with the crew watching the real work and walking through the safety field guide and how it applies to their own work practices.

JACKSON
A CDL is the first real step
Classes at Jackson College are in full swing, and interest in the program keeps climbing. Both our CDL students and our lineworker students are seeing real opportunities for employment. The lineworker students keep arriving at the same realization — a CDL is the first real step toward getting hired — and they’re putting what they’ve learned about how to find a job to work.

LANSING
Nine weeks, running strong
The 9-week program at Lansing Community College has run well and is heading into its mid-stretch. We’re adding new climber instruction and continuing to help discover additional curriculum for what comes next in the student experience.

More seats behind the wheel
Our 3-week CDL class is into week two. We also added a second approved CDL instructor to the team this week — which means we can open up more classes as demand grows, instead of making people wait for the next one.
Equipping workers, building culture.
