Lineworker Apprenticeship
IBEW Local 876 has opened its lineworker apprenticeship for applications through ALBAT. It’s a real, paid path into the trade — and Alpha Omega wants our students and grads to have first crack at it.
ALBAT (American Line Builders Apprenticeship Training) is the IBEW/NECA apprenticeship program. This is an outside opportunity Alpha Omega is sharing — not an Alpha Omega position.

The apprenticeship is built for people ready to start climbing. If you’ve trained with us or you’re working toward your CDL, you’re already on the right track.
- A Class A CDL — or, at minimum, a Commercial Learner’s Permit
- At least 18 years old
- Legally able to work in the United States
- A valid Social Security number
What you’ll need to apply
Have these ready before you sit down to apply — it makes the whole process faster.
- A completed application, plus a $25 nonrefundable application fee
- Education: a high school transcript or diploma, a GED, or an associate degree or higher
- Proof of a valid Class A CDL — or a Class A Temporary Permit with air brakes (valid both when you apply and when you’re selected)
- A current resume
- Your DD-214, if you’re a veteran
Every applicant takes an aptitude test
All applicants must complete an aptitude test before the interview. Don’t let it intimidate you — come rested, take your time, and treat it like any other step on the way in.
Four steps to get in
- Gather your documents — CDL or Commercial Learner’s Permit, your education records, a resume, and your DD-214 if you served.
- Open the Lineworker Apprenticeship posting for IBEW Local 876 on ALBAT.
- Complete the application and pay the $25 nonrefundable fee.
- Complete the required aptitude test, then move on to your interview.
